In your opinon what spells should a future FF game have.
Include:
Name of the spell
What the spell does
The spell's Elemental type (if any)

Warp - all FFs should have this spell that was included in FFVI and some past FF games. It lets you escape from most battles and quickly exit most any area you might be trapped in at the time. Very useful.

What about the capacity of making runes using your MP?

Like healing runes
Elemental runes like Fire, Fire2...
A Death rune, which would kill your enemy instantly
Flare and Holy runes (those'd cost a lot of MP)
The expeption would be magics like meteo and summons, and the advantages would be that even characters who wouldn't be able to cast a determinate spell could use the rune (being an item), and the rune maker could go to battle with good MP and the player wouldn't have to worry about it.

But to this happen I think the Inn's average price should be increased, and the MP to make runes should be greater than to use the magic in normal way.

That's my idea.

maybe a summon monster who grows. *I dont know if its already been done* but like when you first get it, it can be in an egg, or something. and then every time you level up 5 levels soemthing happens to it. and the highest level spell *like in 7- the highest level materia, x- the highest black magic spell, etc* and then have it be that element. or, with all the experience you get, you can make it........hehe, i probably sound so stupid right now *heh*

OK, less of the porn methinks :(

- Pain. This is already recognized on FFVIII and above, but the chances of it actually working are like 5%, so it should be highered.

- Also, like what Prak said, some sort of "Spell Customization System", which allows current spells to be combined to produce new, and more useful ones, (or something like that).

xdistantxdreamerx

I'd add another level to the elemental spells. -aja. Dark Ixion from FFX had Thundaja.

Then like others have said, have like a Mix system but with spells instead of items. Maybe have it so you could mix it with an "All" support spell like the All materia in FF7. Also, have different levels of Mix. Level 1, 2 and 3. The higher the level, the more spells you can mix. Like Doublecast, have Double Mix.

Agent0042
01-27-2005, 10:26 PM
What was special about the "aja" spells? I assume Dark Ifrit and Shiva had their respective Bliz and Firajas? Did they just do more damage? Could they break the damage limit?

Jewels
01-29-2005, 02:08 PM
Well it's funny, only Dark Ixion has an -aja spell, Thundaja, but it's non-elemental, and it does more damage than Thundaga (auto break damage limit with dark aeons). I just think since they've added another level, it should be present in future games.

i think there should be one called final descruction
this would be the ultimate move, like knights of the round table in ff8
the character would lift his hand in the air and then you see the sun start to move
closer and closer the sun would get to your opponents. then BAM it would jump into light speed and collide into him and do the maximum damage possible

That sounds alot like Sephiroth's Super Nova. It was a summon that called a meteor over. It destroyed Pluto, Neptune, and Jupitor by fly through them. It crashed into the sun causing it to expand vaporizing Mecury and Mars and half of the Earth until it reached you.

I think the multi level spell names should be brought into other types of spells too.

Gravity -> Gravara -> Gravaga
Earth -> Earthara -> Earthaga

And again with the spell combinations. Imagine casting Aeraga fused with a Sleepel... You put them asleep as you fling them across the room.

Okay, first idea --- already been done to some degree. Final Fantasy XII has upped the ante with Aeroga, Curaja, Esunaga, Sleepga, Reflectga, etc. And I think it has high-level Gravity spells too.

Second idea --- interesting, but perhaps too powerful. Final Fantasy games already are somewhat less-than-famed for their difficulty.

I saw some of the monsters in FFXII use attacks that looked like Stasis punch I belive it is-the Ice one Agrias uses at first- but the player never got them so I think in the next game we should espically since those attacks blend really well with the roaming battle system Square enix is using now.

More use of Aja level spells. Ever since seeing Thundaja, and getting all excited about a new level, and then seeing Curaja and Diaja in FF1, ive been wanting the Aja level spells to make a real appearance. (I was very surprised to see Firaja in FFXII!)

I even thought of a further level, -ava, as in Thundava, Curava, Demava, etc etc.. Imho, its the only letter than works, and theres only one problem, in that it doesnt work with Gravity (Graviva?) I worked around this making "Gravirava".

I tend to disagree with Squares spelling of the names, I mean, Aeroga, should clearly be Aeraga, Dark/Darkra/Darkga should be Shadow/Shadara/Shadaga.

Also, wth are they doing putting in aga spells, when there is no ara level version in sight? Makes no sense at all.

Also, the person who stated Gravity and Earth, it would be Gravira and Graviga, as evidenced by Kingdom Hearts, and Quake, Quakara and Quakaga. Then again, Square is rubbish at naming things these days.

One Mile Ahead
04-18-2007, 08:47 PM
I'd like to see a monster breeding program, maybe to replace summoning, sort of thing. It sounds a bit pokemon, I know, but maybe if you sort of captured defeated opponents, made them into your 'pets' (for lack of a better word), so you could call on them in battle as a start, but then you could maybe go further with it, and (heh) 'force' different species of monsters to mate, giving you a cross breed of the two with the abilities of both its parents, and eventually creating bigger, meaner and more powerful beasts as you go.

I realise developing this sort of thing would be nigh on impossible, given the number of varieties of enemies there are in the newer FF games, so limitations would have to apply, like obviously, mechanical enemies wouldn't be included, and opposing elements were incompatible, as are huge dragons and minute insects, etc, etc.

It could work with some more thought to it, I think...

Edit:- Another idea could be perhaps a FF game with a day/night cycle, and your spells are specific to this. Might make an interesting challenge if some enemies or bosses were immune to your 'day' or sunlight dependant spells, but weak against your 'night' or darkness dependant spells, it might make some refreshing 'forks in the road' so to speak, affecting your progression through the game, possibly giving more replay value.

It would be great too if there were some spells that could only be used at dawn or twilight, maybe these could be the most devastating. Certainly limiting the use of the ultra powerful spells to something other than MP consumption could force more tactical playing.

(mind you, I can't say i'm a massive gamer, in the FF series nor much else, so this has all probably been done. I said myself the monster capturing/breeding idea was vaguely reminiscent of Pokemon...)

Spells:

-The -aja spells.

-A new spell level (like someone suggested the -ava spells) except only bosses should use it as there's loads of spells already and adding in the -aja spells would fill up the spell box enough anyways...

-Some "fan-favourite classics" from the older games.

-I'd like my water spells back. I'm sick of the lack of water damage I could do in FFXII without summoning Famfrit or finding a stupid water-base weapon.

-Air and Earth spells.

Summons:

-More classics (like Shiva and Ifrit, etc..)

-BAHAMUT!!!! And all of his forms from FFVII

-Anima, what? I liked using him.

-More control over your summons, not like FFXII. I felt as though I barely had any control over them.

-Summon customization (sort of like in FFX only more detailed)

-Summon use. This time I want to feel as though summons are needed throughout the game *cough* Not FFXII style *cough*.

With the new system that was introduced with FFXII (free-roaming enemies and all) it would be cool to see a spell that allowed you to temporarily turn monsters over to your side. I'd all this spell Napalm Explosion. The character would swiftly run past the enemy and strike the enemy with his/her sword. The the character would stand straight up and turn his head slightly at the enemy and the enemy would glance back. A tidal wave of flames would emerge the same direction as the player. The enemy would look forward and see the flames and the character leaped into the air above the enemy saying the spell. The tidal wave would engulf the enemy and the character would crash down sword first on the enemy making a huge explosion making it look like an atomic bomb just hit. How does that sound...to flashy?
