Thank Atget, I have been waiting for some new TD in 2016. :)

Unfortunately, Edgar Froese passed away last year. This you may already know. Jerome, his son. Stated that Tangerine Dream will not be forming together as a group. So no more 'new' TD albums....

I think you will find that as Jerome left Tangerine Dream in 2006, he has no involvement in their future. The band HAVE recorded a new album, and intend to perform live, under the leadership of Thorsten Quaeschning, and Edgar Froese's widow.

I am aware that Jerome left then, but the TD fanbase asked Jerome if he would take his fathers place, to which he responded with a resounding no!

That still doesn't affect the future of the remaining members.
Jerome decided his future wasn't with TD in 2006, primarily because he didn't like the direction the music was taking, but also because he does not get on with the two people who were driving his father in that direction, and as they are still involved, there was never any doubt that he would not take over the reins.

TD will do well under Thorsten Quaeschning, I think, with a more inventive and varied style than they have in the last decade.

I have to agree, definitely for the last 5 or so years for me, I wouldn't say they were 'uninventive' as such, but most certainly below par to what you would normally expect from TD.
I think Thorsten will do well, as you say. His work with Picture Palace Music, is very on par with TD of the 80's and 90's. If he can bring that to the table for new TD ventures, then they can only go on from strength to strength. Of course it will never be the same, for me personally. But the very fact that I thoroughly enjoy Thorsten's work, can only bring some semblance to the new TD.

Well you two probably know this but I have been a fan of TD since 1981 and have well over 400 albums. Everyone has their favorite TD era of music, for me its the 80's era starting 1980 with Tangram.
I have favorites from the 70's - 90's 2000's and 2010's too but 80's were constantly awesome!
