Pretty self-explanatory.

Should Square go back to ATB or stick with the new ADB system?

Myself, I enjoy the ADB system because it makes for faster battles with random enemies. But, I think the ATB system allows more strategy in character placement and skills. It also makes boss battles and obtaining item more gratifying in my opinion.

What are your thoughts?

i like the system the way they have it...however for the license system i wish they would have some character specific mug for vaan or something...i would like to see mug come back...sorry i like stealing...and dealing damage

I think stick with the new, the old was good in X and like you say their was more strategy but i think the new system is a step in the right direction. The random screen smashing battles really annoyed me after 170hours+

What I don't like is that you can't attack your own party with magic and such or heal your ememies. It added another element of stratagy

i myself dont' care and hope they alternate maybe every once in a while. i always like new ideas and stuff. that's what makes ff so enjoyable.

in ffxii? yah you can. i have to press L2 maybe twice to target my own characters. or if you wanna use a heal on a skeleton, it also works. either L1 or L2. one of those. press it a few times, you'll see you can target anything. or whats ir R1? or R2....its one of those. try it out.

What I rember from E3, in XIII there was a chick jumping around with guns on a train. The mood seemed a little to actiony to be TB.

i think i read that one version of xiii was going to be like kh, while the other more traditional. who knows. i'll be getting both versions. :p

also. that was just a movie.

yeah...xiii i will get both too...i bought 2 ps3s and sold one on ebay and kept the other for myself so i can buy games with the 5k that i got from the far as healing enemies you can do it when you are choosing your target and pressing r1...which is awesome cause with that menu you can also raise and heal your reserves

What i think they should do, is like mix the two.

Like have the monsters in the open so u know they are there. Then walk into them, or have them walk into them, then you go into an ATB screen, much like the screen splashing thing like deathshrining said. Anyway, i loved the ATB system, i like this system a little, but it doesn't feel like and RPG anymore. It feels more like a 3rd person RPG or something.

Anyway, thats my opinion, flame it if you want...

ADB is good, I just wouldn't use it for all FF games. I still kinda miss the ATB.

11-30-2006, 04:36 PM
i like more adb i think rather than atb, but i like the kingdom hearts battle system i think thats great and with vs13 itll be good to see how that battle system works. 13 itself i believe is completly new again because they want the battles to look like advent children.

I don't care what they use as long as they never put in random fights again. EVER.

hmmm...this is a hard choice. ADB is awesome, and once you go to ADB, you don't really want to go back to ATB. but ATB is what FF was famous for. the only thing i don't really like in ADB (maybe it's not ADB and it's just what the programmers decided to do) is that gil is sooo hard to come by. another annoyance (but can sometimes be an advantage and be fun) is when monsters come in and join the battle. lol, i always scream at the screen and say like, "this has nothing to do with you! why are you joining in?!" but that's only if i'm close to dying. if i can kill all them, i'm like, "you fools. you dare challenge me?! *kill*" lol.....

12-03-2006, 08:47 PM
roflmao i think like that too, anyname! rofl. and since i'm overlvled i always find myself saying "cmon, you want more? BRING IT OOONNN!!!" lol

sometimes i like to run around and form large groups to slaughter.

btw. a friend of mine told me this long ago regarding ff8 and how monsters didn't drop gil that time either. which was like the first time it happend? someone correct me if i'm wrong.

anyway. he said he preffered it cause it made it more realistic. and then gave me an example of like a mutant deformed sewer pig dropping 1000 gil. and he'd joke "where did it come from? his ass?" lol its true. since when do monsters carry gil? they got pockets or something?

but that really has nothing to do with adb or atb. just monsters dropping gil in general. they could still use adb and just make em drop gil if that's what people would preffer. who knows.

they should turn ffvii battle system into baseball game

like i explain in ffvii party would be

c cait sithe
1b cloud strife
2b tifa lockheart
ss red xiii
3b barret wallace
lf vincent valentine
cf yuffie kisargi
rf that hooker/um don corneo

then in battle it is like u up against pitcher let's say

materia keeper

here is his new stats

94MPH Lightning Fastball (replaces trine)
76MPH Change Up (Scissors attack)
88MPH 2-Seam (Normal)

so like u need to be ab ready for his pitches

u can deal damage by hits

but u have hp that is ur outs

u need x-amount of runs

as u build up levels stuff goes up so u are better like cloud here are stats

BA: 49
OB: 40
SB: 45
HR: 66
SLG: 67
SPD: 50

materia would be like

HP plus would be OUTS+
to OUT+5

MP plus would be like used for MP where u get power at bats

summon spells will be like

Attack name: Slugging Champion

Attack Name: Stolen Base

Knights of the Round:
Attack Name: The New York Yankees

that is my idea

So basically you prefer ADB.

12-15-2006, 05:25 AM
ADB is only cool because you can become your own movie director, 'cause you can move the camera around, zoom in zoom out and go WHEEEE!!!

Other than that well they've got to try out something different every Final Fantasy, it's like a tradition. And it's been like 10 ATB, 2 ADB and 1 Turn Based (not counting chronicles, any ffvii spin off and FF Tactics ADvance)

12-15-2006, 08:15 PM
I like the ADB system too, but I hope they always stick with some kind of timing element to the battles. I tend to get a little sloppy when I play games more like KH. I need that slight pause so I don't keep hitting attack, LOL.
