This has probably been brought up before but I've never seen it.

Anyway, considering how detailed the timeline of Spira's past is as well as certain characters' pasts, I would say that from the start this game had much more potential for a prequal than a sequel.

It could be anything from the Crimson Squad to Shuyin/Lenne to one of the four High Summoner's stories. I wouldn't expect a long game as good as either of those two, just a little homage game, kinda like FF7's Dirge of Cerebrus. An example would be showing... Braska's path, for instance, and have it include some of the scenes from Jecht's Spheres as homage. While at the same time it would show how some parts of Spira were previously.

Of course it'll never happen and I'm not saying it should be, just a fun idea... heh. They should have just done this instead of X-2, now that I think about it.

Thoughts, comments, etc.

A prequel instead of a sequel, which we have now is X-2.

I would agree wholeheartedly with the idea of a prequel rather than a sequel since it would be much easier to do with the building blocks of the midquel (I'll call it that or rather by the first game title better known as X) can be done easier rather than dumping anything new and instantly expect the player to get associated with it.

Sure, I've heard X-2 proved development for the other characters that were playable in X like Wakka's worries about trying to be a good father while Kimahri(sp?) has the difficulty of trying to calm down the Ronso clan as the new Elder of the Ronso since SPOILERS: Seymour slaughtered the Ronso like Elder Kelk, Brian and Yenke(sp?) from trying to stop him pursing the party up Gagazet. SPOILERS END

FURTHER SPOILERS: The plot seemed to reflect around of that a usual love tragedy story with the whole revenge against the world thing, which really wasn't done that good at all with not much known information about Shuyin and Lenne apart from the descriptions of them in Zanarkand during the Machina War period. I would have liked to have seen at least a better understanding of the Machina War such as all the reasons and events that caused this war to escalate between Zanarkand and Bevelle along with further development into the Shuyin/Lenne relationship such as how they may have met or how their relationship had grown further before Shuyin raided the Bevelle underground to get access to Vegnagun leading to Lenne's eventual death. Perhaps more detail into the possible connection between Shuyin and Tidus rather than having Yuna simply wondering about it through a murmur. The Den of Woe did provide some more insight and info into why Shuyin had a grudge against the world along with the kind of emotional torture he suffered at continuously seeing Lenne's death, causing his sanity to inevitably break at being sealed in that long forgotten cave for over a thousand years. Anyone so deeply in love would have broken eventually, yet it seemed to me that Shuyin's spirit couldn't really rest in the first place even though the fayth described more a shadow since those pyrefiles kept showing that same memory over and over, fueling his desire for revenge. FURTHER SPOILERS END

I would rather have had the prequel since the cast (Jecht, Auron and Braska) seemed to be much more interesting characters just by seeing some parts of their pilgrimage through the Jecht spheres. Each of the characters had their own hardships to cope with such as Jecht wanting to find a way to return to his Zanarkand to be reunited with his wife and son. Whereas Braska knew the horrible truth about the pilgrimages, knowing he would die, defeating Sin and he would never raise his daughter himself and see her grow up. Auron at that time was the full-blown Yevonite who too involved with the beliefs of his religion to rather consider things from a different point of view.

So yeah, I would have loved or love to see a prequel released to explore the aspects of Braska's pilgrimage including the hilarous arguments with the arrogant Jecht and the strict, serious Auron as Braska would be constantly caught in the middle. Seeing as the difference between of one another even though Auron does treat Braska with formal treatment because of the fact that he is a summoner, slowly forms a strong brotherly friendship between the three of them.

I think a game about tidus being a playa!! in zanarkand, sleeping with all the groupies who ask him to sign their balls. That would be an instant classic!!

I think that it would be amazing if there was a Final Fantasy X prequel pertaining to The war which brought Sin.

I absolutely agree; I've had ideas about Squeenix making Braska's pilgrimage into a game all on its own. IMO, they should have done this in lieu of FFX-2. Although FFX-2 wasn't a horrible game, I think a game with this idea would have drawn in a larger audience and would have had equal potential as X-2 to be a great game. Besides, most loose ends were tied at the end of X (as far as I could tell), and X-2 simply seemed like it muddled the world of Spira and made more loose ends. But I wonder, who would you play as...Jecht or Auron?

Contemplating this idea further, I am led to a few issues that may not have made this game fun or surprising. For example, the aeons won't surprise us like they did when we first played X, because we've already played X and X-2. Also, unlike in FFX, you have to attain the final aeon from Yunalesca, and you already know Auron's going to die and Jecht's going to become Sin. And that means you also probably won't get to go into Sin. And they also didn't have an airship, because the Al Bhed excavated it in FFX, so they'd have to get around the old-fashioned way, thus making the game a bit too similar to X for an entirely new project if you ask me.

However, the idea, I think, of an FF game depicting Braska's journey, is still a good one.

As for aeons, there was never anywhere that said there are only 8 different types of aeons in Spira. Also there could have been temples that were relocated or shut down, who knows. Plus, despite X-2's events, I don't even think individual temples were limited to giving one kind of aeon, many fayth exist, they could easily move around. They were just there in X-2 for the sake of continuity. But for instance, you meet Isaaru in Djose and he's on his way OUT, and later when you fight his aeons in Bevelle he doesn't have Ixion. They can take other characters and 3D-ify them and make them into aeons, like Leviathan for instance (WHY wasn't it an aeon in the first place considering there was no water one). And they never show Braska summoning anything anyway, so we don't know what he had. We only know what his "Final Aeon" looks like.

As for "we already know their fates", well, it's a PREQUEL, duh, so of course we know their fates, but they could draw out that scene longer, and there's much more potential for an epilogue and such.
Besides, correct me if I'm wrong, we do see Auron die, but do they ever show Braska performing the summoning and being killed by it? I don't think so... it's emphasized over and over again that after a high summoner performs the final summoning, the Final Aeon kills them, but we never get to actually see it happen. That would make for a kick-ass FMV. But either way, they wouldn't just do that and roll the credits.

And the airship, these games always come up with some kind of method of fast transportation. Teleporting between save points is one idea. And, they can always somehow change Spira around and make a PS1-style world map out of it. Who knows...

They should, then cue the Benny Hill music. Best ending ever, IMO.

Showing the Final Aeon being summoned to combat Sin would be a interesting FMV to witness as it would show the Final Aeon slowly turn on its summoner as SPOILERS The parasite known as Yu Yevon would most likely possess the Final Aeon causing it to slay the summoner or perhaps the summoner would die of exhaustion from the amount of necessary energy required to summon such a powerful being. SPOILERS END

I gotta believe that Auron would be the one to control, seeing as SPOILERS Jecht becomes Sin and Auron would be the only one left after being heartbroken and sadden greatly from the grief created upon witnessing his two close friends and companions whom he regarded as brothers die right in front of his eyes. This would lead to a final confrontation with Yunalesca in order to avenge Jecht and Braska by destroying the very thing that brought Spira false hope. I do know that Auron is defeated and badly wounded as he somehow stumples down Gagazet where Kimahri found him leading to the promise of protecting Yuna. I believe he dies there, only to return as an unsent where he is found by Rin and the Al-Bhed. He must disappear shortly afterwards to confront Jecht somewhere who is beginning to become next Sin where upon Auron would ride Sin(Jecht) to Dream Zanarkand where he would take of Tidus because of the promise he made to Jecht shortly before he became the Final Aeon. END SPOILERS

Another FMV I would love to see would be a short one after the credits where SPOILERS Auron may share a short or brief conversation with Jecht as he slowly starts to become Sin where Auron would assure Jecht that he would take of his son and that they will end this, probably towards the end of the conversation, Jecht may say something along the lines of "Hey Auron! You better not be late or so help me!" as Auron merely chuckles in response as he leaves Sin to enter Dream Zanarkand in the direction of Jecht's family's home to tell them of Jecht's fate (most likely to tell them that Jecht had died.) Then the screen would start to fade to black, revealing 'The End' with something else along the lines of 'Continued in FFX...'. END SPOILERS

That Shuyin and Lenne Would be ok, but the Braska one sounds like it more potential.

Yeah cause if Tidus Was the main character for this prequel, then that would have been nonstop crying from Him. and i think nobody wants that, he did enough crying the game already.

The Braska pilgrimage would definitely make more sense to make. Hell, even I have had ideas along those lines - using RPG Maker XP I began creating a 'FFX-3' game just for fun.

There is so much potential for that idea, and as long as Braska, Jecht, and Auron aren't transformed into gun-wielding trannies I think such a game could turn out great.
