This is a really good thread when it works, and seeing as how there’s hardly a decent thread on the whole first page of the forum and how at least a few members on here have good taste, I thought I’d have a go at resurrecting it. Hopefully it goes alright.

The idea is simple: you listen to the song the previous poster (or posters, if you fancy more than one) submitted, comment on it- concisely, no need to review it- and finish with a song of your own choosing to continue the chain for the next poster. It works very well so long as you aren’t a moron and can do all that. For a clearer idea of what I mean see here for a past example.

There’s tons of ways you can link to your chosen song. With Youtube and you’re spoiled for choice with what can be streamed freely and if you can’t find what you’re looking for anywhere online, so long as you have a copy of the song on your hard drive, you can upload to a file-sharing site such as Sendspace, though that’s less than ideal as files uploaded in that manner usually expire after a set amount of time.

A final suggestion would be to try to pick songs from outside the mainstream so that hopefully we can all broaden our listening habits a little, at least within the confines of the thread, but it’s not a requirement by any means.

Right, to get the ball rolling I’m going with All for the Best by Miracle Legion. First came across this track as a Thom Yorke cover on the 2009 Mark Mulcahy tribute album Ciao My Shining Star and loved it instantly. As is usually the case though, the original just about shades any comparison between versions. To quote the song, “You’re so beautiful it seems”- an apt description.
